Response:

Choosing a career is usually a daunting task, but as a young person looking to become a professional especially in the finance sector, my decision will be based on some of the strengths I have which aligns to finance. These strengths include my love for numbers and flare with working with spreadsheets

Aside the strengths, I have also asked myself many questions that include:

What does a career in finance entail?

One must have certain skills to excel a career in finance. People management, legal knowledge, ability to persuade others.

What are my strength?

Before deciding on a career in finance, one must have a clear understanding of their strengths. Are your strengths suited to a career in Finance, and will they be put to good use?

What do I wish for?

I am looking for great opportunities for career growth and also willing to sacrifice work-life balance in the short term to enjoy the benefits in the long term.

As someone that loves challenges, a career in Finance will sure be an exciting journey.

Question:

2) What things are most important to you when selecting your next career role?

Response:

I will look for a career role that satisfies some of these important areas:

· A career role that will improve my interpersonal skills:

Interpersonal skills are essential in the finance field, and play a critical role in day-to-day life, whether or not the position is directly customer-related.

If I will be interacting with clients at any level, I should prioritize creating positive experiences.

· A career role that brings opportunities for career growth:

We are now in a period of vital innovation which means roles are consistently developing, therefore creating more opportunities to find a position that best uses ones strengths and interests. A career that satisfies this is important to me.

A career in finance that will help refine my strengths, increase my adaptability, bolster my work ethic and ensure I am constantly stimulated. I will grow as a person and a professional, reaping the benefits immediately and throughout my future career path.

Question:

3) Given the changes from the past 18 months, what skills do you think you will need in order to remain competitive?

Are you confident in your current ability to adopt and master these new skills? Why/why not?

Response:

To remain competitive, some of the skills I must have or adopt are:

Interpersonal skills:

These days, any perception that a career in finance involves simply crunching numbers has been replaced by the reality that positions require workers to deal with clients and workplace teams every day.

To remain competitive, my ability to build successful relationships is critical for success. When looking at two equally qualified hires, interpersonal skills are often the point of difference.

Ability to communicate:

Strong oral and written communication skills are important, but it is just as imperative to be able to explain financial jargon in simple terms.

Many companies prefer candidates who can make complex industry language clear to clients and workers in other departments who have limited finance knowledge, as opposed to potential hires who simply regurgitate what they have learned.

Aptitude for financial reporting:

Preparing documentation that discloses a company’s financial status to management, investors and the government is now a paramount skill one must possess.

Financial candidates looking for a competitive edge would be wise to demonstrate a proficiency in financial reporting.

Capacity for innovation:

Candidates who inspire innovation in the workplace are likely to stand out, be it inventing a data-collection method that streamlines productivity or a recording process that drives accuracy.

I am very confident in my current ability to adopt and master these new skills.

Question:

4) What do you need in your workplace to feel:

Response:

Being successful and productive at my workplace requires more than just participation — it demands being proactive about my own performance. How I am doing my job is just as important as what I am are doing.

The characteristics for success can vary somewhat depending on the job requirements, some attributes are critical for success in any field.

A workplace where recognition is given to outstanding staff occasionally is highly recommended. That will make me feel successful, satisfied and motivated.
